Mariana Cherkas

Associate

After articling with Mathany and Higgs Law, Mariana returned to the firm as an associate to continue working on a wide variety of expropriation matters both for the expropriating authority and private individuals. She is focusing on expropriation and property litigation. Mariana has assisted with litigation files before the Ontario Land Tribunal, including discoveries, hearings, mediations, and motions.

Mariana graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School with a Master’s in Canadian Common Law (LL.M). Mariana worked as a legal assistant at one of Canada’s leading full-service law firms during her LL.M degree, where she was exposed to a broad range of practice areas, including expropriation, land use planning, civil and commercial litigation.
Mariana earned her Bachelor of Laws in Criminal Prosecution from one of Ukraine’s top law schools, from which she graduated with distinction.

Mariana is passionate about dispute resolution and enjoys drafting various types of agreements.
