May Luong – Ethics Judge

M&H LLP is proud to recognize their own May Luong, who was chosen and invited to be an Ethics Judge for the Intercollegiate Business Competition 2019 and 2020 at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

May has experience dealing with almost all matters relating to land use and urban planning including zoning due diligence, policy review and analysis, filing municipal applications, prepared land use planning justification reports and attend various municipal meetings on client’s behalf. From a legal perspective, May has experience with Ontario Municipal Board (OMB)/Local Planning Appeal (LPAT) Tribunal hearings; zoning reviews for transactions of properties; filing of municipal applications including OMB appeals; and attendance at client meetings and municipal meetings including staff, committee and council meetings. May’s scope of knowledge includes federal, provincial and municipal planning legislation. Clients range from the commercial sectors to institutional sectors.

To enrich May’s work experience, she developed and oversaw the student planning Co-operative program from University of Waterloo planning school for over 10 years at Borden Ladner Gervais (her former employer). This included interviewing, hiring, supervising, reviewing and mentoring planning students. She is also an active Board member of the Wesley Community Centre in Markham, a Centre that strives to provide and improve community space and programs for the young and elderly in the neighbourhood.
